Here is my review of the Sage Adjusta Grill. It comes in stainless steel (much like other Sage appliances), has a power and ready light, and you can also adjust the heat setting - which is a feature a lot of other electric grills out there don’t have.
Furthermore, you can manually adjust the height of the top grill which is good if you’re adjusting it to cook things like thin steak or a toasted sandwich.
The grill also comes with a drip tray and plastic spatula, and the top grill can be locked down, which is good if you have kids around whilst you’re heating it up. Both heating plates are really big which is great – the bottom one is flat and the top one is griddled.
Grilled Chicken
My first test was to grill a chicken breast. One thing I would say is I’ve never used an electric grill that gets as hot as this (even when it’s on the sandwich setting), so be really careful when you’re using it.
Both of the plates do have a non-stick surface, but I do like to put a little bit of oil on as well. When I was grilling the chicken, because it gets so hot, it literally only took a minute and a half each side to cook. So it’s really important to stay there and keep an eye on whatever you’re cooking in this grill to make sure it doesn’t burn.
Grilled Sandwich
For my next test I wanted to make a grilled sandwich. So I set the top plate to a higher setting so it doesn’t squash the sandwich too much, again, apply a little bit of oil then put my toasted sandwich on the grill.
I only had to cook my sandwich for between 20-30 seconds on each side until it was done.
In conclusion
I would say the Adjusta Grill is a good electric grill, but ait does get really, REALLY hot! So if you’re not comfortable cooking on really high heats, it’s probably not the grill for you. Also, it did take at least 10 minutes for the grill to heat up so it’s probably more suited if you’re cooking things in larger quantities, as opposed to one piece of bacon.
All in all, I think it’s good value for money and it’s probably more suited to someone who is more comfortable in the kitchen as opposed to a novice.
