Here’s my really quick tutorial on how to cut a mango with a knife. To demonstrate, we’re going to cut a yellow mango into cubes. If you get stuck, watch the video below the directions which shows you how it’s done.
- Firstly, to cut a mango you’ll need to make sure it’s nice and ripe.
- Next, two of the sides will have a larger surface area than the other. Cut downwards on either side of the stone on these larger sides of the mango.
- For each piece you cut off, make 4-5 incisions into the mango, downwards (being sure not to cut through the skin on the underside).
- Rotate the piece of mango and make 4-5 more incisions across. Do this for each piece of mango then pop inside out.
- You can now tear off each cube of mango.
- For the remaining piece still containing the stone, make two straight cuts to remove the remaining flesh left around the stone.
- Carefully remove the skin from these pieces using a sharp knife then chop into chunks.
And there you go - it’s as easy as that! Remember, you can freeze chopped mango which goes great in smoothies. For more info on how to cut a mango, check out the demo video below.
