Sourdough bread is very popular at the moment. If you want to know how to make it, you'll also need to follow a sourdough starter recipe.
Follow this guide showing you how to make sourdough starter from scratch. It'll take a few days to make, however it is a really easy process to follow.
- Take a clear jar and pour in 100g of strong white bread flour and 100ml of lukewarm water.
- Thoroughly mix together until nice and smooth.
- Leave loosely covered in a place with a consistent/warm temperature for the next 24 hours.
- After a day, the starter should be giving off a yeasty smell with some bubbles forming. Discard half the starter from the jar and add another 100g of flour and 100ml of lukewarm water.
- Mix until smooth and leave for another 24 hours, loosely covered in a warm place.
- Follow the process of replacing and topping up the starter for a further 1-3 days until you're left with a puffed up mixture with lots of bubbles.
- Place 1 tsp of starter in a glass of water. If it floats, it's ready to use.
