Sourdough Bread Recipe
- 100g Sourdough starter
- 575g Strong white bread flour
- 10g Salt
Directions
Sourdough bread is very popular at the moment. Check out my easy sourdough bread recipe which is made from scratch and involves making a sourdough starter.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix the starter with 300ml of lukewarm water.
- Add the strong white bread flour into the bowl and loosely mix together.
- Cover and leave to proof for 2 hours.
- Mix in the salt and knead lightly using a stretching/folding technique (see video below). Form into a ball, cover with clingfilm and leave for 15 minutes. Repeat this process 3 times.
- After the third short proof, briefly knead again and form into a ball.
- Place into a greased bowl, cover and leave to proof for 4 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 220c/430f and place a dish of water at the bottom of the oven.
- Turn the loaf out onto a baking tray lined with greaseproof or parchment paper. Sprinkle with flour and score the top of the loaf.
- Place in the oven for 40-50 minutes.
- When well risen and golden all over, remove from the oven, leave to cool and enjoy.
