Directions

As part of our Jubilee themed recipes, make this classic English Scone Recipe and make your country proud! They're perfect for celebrating being British and are really simple to make. Why not make them for afternoon tea?

  1. Sift the Self Raising flour into a mixing bowl then slice the butter into small cubes and add to the bowl.
  2. Mix the contents of the bowl together with your fingertips until you get a breadcrumb consistency.
  3. Briefly mix in the Caster Sugar and make a well in the middle.
  4. Pour in the Milk and stir the mixture to form a soft dough, then mix in the Currants.
  5. If the dough is too sticky, mix in more flour until it has a dough consistency.
  6. Flour a work surface and roll out the dough to about 2cm thick.
  7. Using a pastry cutter, cut out the scones.
  8. Place the scones onto a greased baking tray, then brush them all over with the broken Egg.
  9. Bake in the over on 210c for about 15 minutes, or until golden.

These Scones go great with Clotted Cream and Jam and are perfect for celebrating the Diamond Jubilee. Check out our Sausage Roll Recipe and Cupcake Recipe that are also perfect for celebrating the Jubilee with.
